2018 Cayman Islands Classic Bracket

GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – Game matchups for the second annual Cayman Islands Classic were announced Thursday by Caymax Sports LTD, and Boise State will take on Creighton in the final game of the day in the opening round, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, Monday, Nov. 19.

Akron will face Clemson in the first game at 12 p.m. followed by Georgia meeting Illinois State at 2:30 p.m. The Broncos’ potential opponents in the next round – St. Bonaventure and Georgia State – play at 5 p.m.

Creighton posted a 21-12 record last year and finished third in the Big East Conference. They also received an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament (their fifth appearance in the last seven seasons) where they fell to Kansas State in the first round.

Similar to Boise State, the Bluejays will be moving into the 2018-19 season without the services of a future first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft later this month with the departure of junior guard Khyri Thomas. Along with Thomas, Creighton graduated four seniors from last year’s team.

The Blue and Orange will undoubtedly be looking to recreate a similar result in their only other all-time meeting against Creighton, as the Broncos went on the road in the 2012-13 season and picked up a season-defining win in upsetting the then-No. 11 ranked Bluejays in Omaha by a score of 83-70.

Beating No. 11 Creighton that season still stands as the highest ranked opponent that the Broncos have ever defeated in program history.
