Seven Broncos Earn Academic All-District Honors

BOISE, Idaho – Seven Boise State football student-athletes were named to the NCAA Division I CSC Academic All-District 7 First Team, the College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.

Michael Callahan, Jackson Cravens, Tyler Crowe, Ahmed Hassanein, Riley Smith, Alexander Teubner and Cole Wright were each recognized for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Callahan (3.91, business administration and entrepreneurship management) has appeared in 10 games this season at defensive tackle, including making his second-career start against Wyoming (Nov. 19).

Majoring in communication, Cravens boasts a 3.91 GPA. The defensive lineman has played in seven games this season.

Crowe (3.68, business administration) has seen action in each of the Broncos’ 11 games in 2022. The running back has registered 109 yards rushing on 15 carries, adding 30 yards through the air on two receptions. He racked up a career-high 78 yards rushing on eight attempts at Nevada (Nov. 12).

A business major, Hassanein holds a 3.74 GPA and has appeared in each of Boise State’s 11 matchups this season on the defensive line, including starting each of the last two games at Nevada (Nov. 12) and Wyoming (Nov. 19). He has recorded 11 tackles, including two sacks, and forced a fumble.

Smith graduated with a degree in construction management in May 2022 and is now pursuing a Master of Business Administration while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Smith has started eight of the nine games in which he has appeared at tight end, hauling in 20 catches for 168 yards and a touchdown.

Teubner (3.58, finance) has played in each of the Broncos’ 11 games in 2022, making four starts. The safety has notched 24 tackles, including 18 solo and one for-loss.

A native of Carlsbad, Calif., Wright (3.56, business administration) has played a role as both a wide receiver and kick returner. He has two catches for 59 yards and has returned 10 kicks for 221 yards, including a 36-yard return against UT Martin (Sept. 17).

This marks the eighth-consecutive year Boise State has had multiple award winners and the fifth time in the last seven years it has placed at least five student-athletes on the all-district team.
