COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State senior safety JL Skinner and redshirt freshman quarterback Taylen Green collected Mountain West weekly honors following their performances in the Broncos’ 20-17 victory over Wyoming (Nov. 19). Skinner was named the MW Defensive Player of the Week, while Green was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

A pair of interceptions by Skinner during the final two minutes of the game ultimately secured Boise State’s seventh conference victory, clinching the MW Mountain Division and the right to host the MW Championship game.

His two picks doubled his season total and marked the first game of his career with multiple interceptions. The San Diego, Calif., native added five tackles, tied for the second most among Bronco defenders.

Skinner also helped anchor a Boise State defense that held Wyoming to just 30 yards through the air on three completions.

On the offensive side of the ball, Green engineered the game-winning touchdown drive, connecting with redshirt senior wide receiver Billy Bowens on a 38-yard touchdown strike midway through the fourth quarter.

The Lewisville, Texas native finished the evening 20-for-34 for 211 yards passing and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing), as Green also found the end zone on a 5-yard run during the Broncos’ opening possession of the second half.

He added 47 yards on the ground on nine carries and recorded one key tackle that potentially stopped Wyoming’s DeVonne Harris from returning a fumble for a go-ahead touchdown.

This is Green’s fourth MW Weekly award since taking over the starting quarterback position against San Diego State in week five (three freshman of the week honors, one offensive player of the week award).

Next, Boise State welcomes Utah State to The Blue for its final regular-season game, Friday (Nov. 25). The Broncos and the Aggies are slated to kick at 10 a.m. MT on CBS.
