NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Boise State’s Curtis Weaver has been named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced, Friday.

The award, currently in its 16th year, is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football’s Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy was named in honor of Ronnie Lott, a two-time All-American and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Weaver is a redshirt-junior STUD. He is one of 11 defensive linemen among the 42 student-athletes selected to the watch list, and he is the only defensive lineman from a Group of Five school.

The Long Beach, Calif., native enters 2019 with 20.5 sacks, tied for sixth all-time at Boise State. He is a two-time All-Mountain West First Team selection.

The voting panel for the Lott IMPACT Trophy is made up of past winners and finalists, former coaches and players, members of the media and the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.

The Foundation has donated more than $1.5 million to various charities since its inception in 2004, including nearly $700,000 to universities

The winner’s school receives $25,000 for its general scholarship fund and three finalists receive $5,000 each for their schools. A Lott IMPACT Player of the Week is selected each week during the season and $1,000 is awarded to the school of the player.
