Spring Eval time is here once again, running through May. Per Twitter, many coaches hit the road this week and will be in the usual recruiting areas of southern Cali, the Bay Area, Texas, Idaho, Pacific Northwest. It appears they are offering more recruits out of Utah right now as well so I would think they would be there. I will be interested to see if they try to keep their Arizona pipeline going now that Huff has moved on.
Over the past few years, the coaching staff have used this time in a variety of ways. 1) They visit schools of players they have offered, really evaluating them and I would imagine arranging those recruits on their board for who they are pursuing the hardest. 2) Looking at the recruits who are on they radar who might be on the bubble of an offer and making decisions if and when to extend offers to them. We've discussed a few of those players here, such as the ones who visited for Junior Days. 3) Return to some of the schools, coaches, and areas they have recruited in past years and have good connections in hopes to discover a new player they previously didn't know about. This can be going to power programs and finding the players who are overshadowed but are still great players (Roman Kafentizis, De'Andre Pierce to some extent, Cartrell Thomas) or finding a standout player on a team lacking much talent (Bryan Jefferson, Alexander Mattison, Damon Cole).
This is a busy time for the coaching staff, so hopefully recruiting news will pick up a bit. Expect many new offers and for us to hopefully piece together their plan a bit by seeing what schools and players they are evaluating. We will provide updated when we can. Through Twitter, we can see what areas or schools coaches are in and we can try to talk to high school coaches and players to see who exactly they are evaluating. Coach Ambrose: In Cali. Tuesday he visited Walnut, South Hills, Northview, Duarte, and Diamond Bar high schools. These generally appear to be located east of LA
Coach Franklin: He's in the Bay area of Cali.
The other coaches have been quiet on Twitter, but Avalos recruits the Inland Empire in Cali, Hill did Pacific Northwest but may he adds Arizona since he was down there often recruiting Cord.
