KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Boise State men’s basketball was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Wednesday, with the Team Academic Excellence Award. The Broncos posted a 3.05 team cumulative grade-point average for the 2016-17 academic year.

The NABC’s Team Academic Excellence Award is given to any NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA men’s basketball team with a team GPA greater than 3.0, counting all student-athletes who competed during the 2016-17 season. This is the first time Boise State earned the award since the NABC began the team award program in 2012-13.

Six Broncos finished the spring 2017 semester with better than a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Nick Duncan, Matt Grooms, Zach Haney, Alex Hobbs, Justinian Jessup and James Reid all eclipsed the threshold. Reid led all men’s basketball student-athletes with a 3.91 GPA and earned his master’s degree last month in business administration.
