The two games against the Ducks this coming season represents a unique, but not unprecedented opportunity for Boise State when it comes to facing a Pac-12 foe twice in the same season. The 2015-16 season saw Boise State face Arizona twice, as the first game against the Wildcats was a non-bracketed game a part of the 2015 DirecTV Wooden Legacy while the latter matchup was the third-place game in the tournament a couple weeks later.
Boise State is 2-6 in the all-time series against Oregon, but are winners of two of the last three games. The recent three-game series between the two teams wrapped up this past season as the Blue and Orange claimed the thrilling 73-70 victory, Dec. 1, 2017. Lexus Williams hit a 3-pointer from half-court as time expired, giving UO the loss to snap the then-nation best 46-game home winning streak.
2016 saw Oregon earn the 68-63 win on its home court, but the win was sandwiched by another Bronco victory in 2015. Boise State grabbed the 74-72 result (Dec. 12, 2015) for the first win over Oregon in program history in front of 10,239 fans in Taco Bell Arena.
"This will be another premier non-conference home game at Taco Bell Arena. Bronco Nation came out in droves last year to support us, so we're excited to show our appreciation and give them a matchup they really want to see."
During Rice's tenure at Boise State the Broncos are 102-21 (82.9 winning percentage) at home, including a 4-0 mark against opponents from the five power conferences. Three of the wins came against Pac-12 members (Utah (2x) and Oregon).
The Broncos and Ducks both made the 2017 National Invitation Tournament with Boise State falling to Washington in the first round and Oregon getting bounced in the second round after a loss to Marquette.
Boise State's nine returners will be joined seven newcomers in 2018-19. Returning starter Justinian Jessup (junior) averaged 11.6 points per game and finished last season shooting 45.7 percent from behind the arc (No. 9 in the NCAA) after making 90 triples – No. 2 in single-season school history.
Fellow returning starter Zach Haney (redshirt senior) will look to increase his 6.6 ppg and 5.5 rpg averages from last season while 2018 Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year, Alex Hobbs (junior), will likely move into a bigger role this coming season. Marcus Dickinson (junior) played in all 32 games last season and averaged 5.7 ppg.
The Ducks have the No. 4 recruiting class according to ESPN and have been picked to win the Pac-12 by multiple national pundits.
