BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University’s head women’s basketball coach Gordy Presnell announced this morning that Miquelle Askew has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Broncos next fall. Askew is a talented 6-3 center from South Jordan, Utah, where she was a first team all-state honoree as a junior. She is the first recruit of the 2011-12 recruiting class to sign an official NLI with Boise State.

“We are excited for Miquelle to join our Bronco basketball family,” said Presnell. “Miquelle is an outstanding young lady and student. She is one of the top post players in the west and has a huge upside. We look forward to Miquelle being an inside presents on our team.”

Askew is currently a senior at Skyline High School in South Jordan, Utah, where she enters her fourth season as a starter at center for the Eagles’ varsity team. Askew averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four blocks and one steal per game as a junior. She earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore, while receiving first team all-conference and all-state honors last year as a junior. In the last two years she helped the Eagles to a combined 23-1 mark in league and 34-12 overall record, while leading her team to two consecutive league championships and three straight 4A state tournament appearances. Askew has played two years of club ball for the Utah Flight out of Salt Lake City.
