BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men’s basketball has announced the signing of Chris Lockett Jr., Thursday at the conclusion of the November signing period. Head coach Leon Rice and his staff have signed two players during the early signing window after Andrew Meadow signed with the Broncos last week.

Lockett Jr., out of Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, is a four-star prospect according to ESPN, and a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. He is the top-ranked player out of Louisiana according to On3 and 247Sports, and the No. 2 prospect in the state according to ESPN. At 6-foot-5, 205-pounds Lockett Jr. is ranked as one of the top guards in the Class of 2023, and at times as one of the top 100 prospects nationally.

“Chris is a big, strong, versatile guard with a mature game,” said Rice. “He can do a variety of things on the court, but his best quality is his will to win – Chris is a winner. He is a great young man, and his versatility and size are going to be great fits for this program.”

As a junior, Lockett Jr. led Isidore Newman to a LHSAA Division III state title with a 28-5 record with averages of 13.4 points per game, 4.2 assists per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. As a sophomore he led the school with 18.5 points per game and to a runner-up finish in the state tournament.

Entering his senior season, Lockett Jr. is averaging 15.4 points per game in 70 career varsity games.

At Isidore Newman, Lockett Jr. is coached by Randy Livingston – a NBA D-League MVP and Champion with the Idaho Stampede in 2007.

Lockett is the son of Chris Lockett Sr. and Kelly Santamarina. He has two siblings, Jaila and Major.
