BOISE, Idaho – Boise State wrestling head coach Mike Mendoza announced the Broncos’ 2016-17 schedule Friday, his debut season at the helm of the program.

The campaign will open with an intrasquad scrimmage at Bronco Gym, scheduled for 2 p.m., Oct. 29 (Saturday).

The regular season begins Nov. 5 with the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo., one of five regular-season tournaments on the slate. Boise State will also compete in the Roadrunner Open in Fresno, Calif. (Nov. 20), the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 2-3), the Reno Tournament of Champions (Dec. 18) and the Midlands in Evanston, Ill. (Dec. 29-30).

Dual action will begin at a neutral site, as the Broncos will square off against Purdue in Palo Alto, Calif., prior to competing in the Roadrunner Open.

The first home dual is scheduled against Utah Valley, Dec. 10 (Saturday). The Broncos and Wolverines will hit the mat in Bronco Gym at 7 p.m.

Each of the Broncos’ five Pac-12 foes will also be making an appearance in Boise. CSU Bakersfield is scheduled for Jan. 21 (Saturday) at 2 p.m., and Stanford is on the docket for Jan. 27 (Friday) at 7 p.m.

Following a one-year hiatus, Beauty and the Beast is back on the schedule for 2016-17, and will feature Oregon State. The Broncos and Beavers will be joined in Taco Bell Arena by the Boise State and Southern Utah gymnastics teams Feb. 3 (Friday), at 7 p.m.

The home schedule will conclude with a Pac-12 double dual, Feb. 12 (Sunday). The Broncos will square off against Cal Poly at 2 p.m., and Arizona State at 4 p.m., with each scheduled for Bronco Gym. The Mustangs and Sun Devils will not face each other in Boise.

Boise State also has four road duals scheduled, against South Dakota State (Jan. 6; 7 p.m.), North Dakota State (Jan. 8; 2 p.m.), Northern Colorado (Jan. 15; 2 p.m.) and Wyoming (Jan. 30). The match-up with the Cowboys is scheduled for Afton, Wyo., and a time will be announced at a later date.

The Pac-12 Championships return to Maples Pavilion on the Stanford campus, Feb. 26 (Sunday), and the season will close with the NCAA Championships at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., March 16-18.
