Moats Named Director of Operations

BOISE, Idaho- Boise State men’s basketball head coach Leon Rice announced the hire of David Moats Monday, as the program’s new director of basketball operations. Moats joins the Broncos after serving as the director of operations at Weber State the past three seasons.

At Boise State Moats will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, travel and equipment arrangements.

“David comes from a championship-level program that we have a lot of respect for,” said Rice. “He brings a wealth of experience at this position and will be a great addition.”

During his three seasons on staff the Wildcats advanced to the postseason twice, including the 2016 NCAA Tournament. At Weber State, he assisted with all areas of the program including travel and scheduling.

Prior to Weber State, Moats was a graduate assistant coach at Florida. He worked with the Gators during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, including a Final Four run his final season. Moats earned his master’s degree in sports management in 2014 from Florida.

A native of Guernsey, Wyo., Moats played basketball for two seasons at Northwest Junior College in Powell, Wyo. His coaching career began immediately after his playing career, serving as a student assistant coach at Wyoming while finishing his undergraduate studies. Moats graduated from Wyoming in 2012 with a degree in kinesiology.
