... Tedford was fired today

Tedford relieved of duties

And guess who is on top of the replacement list:

Cal Coaching search: The Hot Board [$$]

And even in an article posted by Rival's own Robb Cassidy on the recruiting effects of the firing he had to rehash an unfounded rumor that the Cal and Oregon are the only two programs Petersen is interested in.

Will Tedford firing roil Cal recruits

Welcome

Welcome to the 'We're Going to Hire Your Coach' board.

Every year we are invaded by fans who know for a fact that their school is going to hire Coach Petersen away from Boise State.

It doesn't matter that they never do. It will be different this time. So here is where you can all fight over who wins the annual Chris Petersen competition.

*FAIR WARNING*

You are automatically disqualified from the competition if you misspell his name.

6. Participated as a varsity athlete at BSU

According to NCAA rules, once an individual has been identified as an institutional
"representative of athletic interest" the individual retains that title for life.

Rules to Remember:
* Only NCAA certified coaches and university staff members can be involved in the recruiting process.

* The prospective student-athlete remains a prospect even after signing a National Letter of Intent or financial aid award.

Impermissible Activities:
* A booster may not have any contact with a prospective student-athlete.
Contact includes phone calls, letters and faxes.

* A booster may not provide tickets, transportation, or room and board for a
prospect, coach or relative to visit the campus.

* A booster may not entertain in any way or give gifts, benefits, and free or
reduced services to any prospect, coach or relative.

* A booster may not contact a prospect's coach, principal, or counselor
in an attempt to evaluate the prospect.

Permissible Activities:
* A booster may view a prospect's game as long as no contact is made
* If an established relationship already exists between booster and prospect,
the relationship may continue as long as these relationships are not for
recruitment purposes.
* If unavoidable incidental contact occurs, only normal greetings may take place.
* A booster may receive calls from prospective student-athletes only if the
prospect initiates the call and no recruitment takes place during the conversation.
Limit only information to the university in general.

THE ENROLLED STUDENT-ATHLETE EXTRA BENEFITS

An ENROLLED STUDENT-ATHLETE is a student who presently is participating
in athletics or has complete his/her eligibility but is still enrolled at the school.

Westly Perryman suspended ...

Boise State's Westly Perryman Statement

BOISE, Idaho - Redshirt senior guard Westly Perryman has been suspended for tonight’s game against Air Force.

“We were hired to build this program with character, unselfishness and a positive team attitude,” Rice said. “Instilling these core values in our team is the key to our long-term success both on and off the floor. Wes made a decision that didn’t reflect these core values. We want to help Wes and all our players learn to be successful, and as a result we have suspended Wes for tonight’s game.

Buckner cleared by NCAA

BOISE, Idaho ? The Mountain West, in conjunction with the NCAA, has completed its review of Kenny Buckner’s academic eligibility, and has cleared him to play.

Buckner, a redshirt junior center, missed the Broncos’ game against Colorado State while the review was ongoing.

He is Boise State’s second-leading scorer at 9.0 points per game, and ranks third on the team in rebounding (4.3 per game). Buckner’s 2.31 offensive rebounds per game rank fifth in the MW.

Buckner held out for NCAA eligibility review

FORT COLLINS, Colo. ? Redshirt junior center Kenny Buckner did not make the trip with the Boise State University men’s basketball team to Colorado State due to an academic eligibility review that is currently taking place.

Boise State is working closely with the NCAA and Mountain West on the review. The University is hopeful that it will hear something more on the matter soon.

Petersen turned down by UNC

Bubba said forget it. He's not that good anyway.

It works with recruiting. If we don't get the guy we want we just say we didn't want him anyway and we pick his game apart.

If you folks haven't heard, it looks like Larry Fedora will be our guy and from what I understand, he was #2 on our list. Petersen appears to be staying put at least this year. I would put my mortgage on him being gone in the next 3 years though. I just think he's looking for the perfect situation. We'll see.

But good luck in your bowl and next year too. I'm out.

Petersen to Ole Miss Update

Ok, so I was slightly off. Petersen will NOT be our next football coach, as we appear to be about to offer Hugh Freeze. However, word on the streets is that Petersen is about to start coaching our women's volleyball, soccer, and track programs. We've been looking for a proven winner, and we think we've found him...now I just have to teach him how to run a 5-1 scheme...

Petersen to Ole Miss

I have a friend whose father's co-worker's cousin's boss's nephew's fiancee's brother is close friends with Archie Manning's [repeat previous list of relationships] that says he has it on good authority that, no only has Petersen already been hired by Ole Miss, but he has actually been living in Oxford for the last month.

****ATTENTION VISITORS****

... found this post pinned at the top of the North Carolina football board and had a real good laugh:

****ATTENTION VISITORS****

Any rumors posted about UNC's coaches or players in a way to flame or stir up the board in a negative way by visiting fans will not be tolerated on this board. Discussion is welcome but there is a difference between the two and the post will be deleted and a warning will be given the first time this takes place. If you don't cease the topic after it has been deemed as unacceptable by the mods, then you will be banned. This has been decided by the mods to post this. We want the board to be filled with good discussion but leave the rumors on your own board.
Thanks.

So to make all the UNC fans here feel at home we decided to use their own rule here too.
