Boise State just enrolled four-star Spokane (Wash.) Shadle Park quarterback Brett Rypien. Now, Boise State is leading for 2016 three-star El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge pro-style quarterback Ian Book. The Broncos are one of only two programs to offer Book -- Idaho being the other.
Recently Colorado, San Jose State, Washington State and UC Davis have all expressed interest but have yet to extend an offer. That has allowed the Broncos to hold true to form as his leader at this point in his recruitment -- credit Boise State offensive coordinator Mike Sanford for that.
"I talked with [offensive coordinator] Mike Sanford yesterday [Wednesday]," Book told 247Sports.com. "We just talked all about Boise and how he really likes me and thinks I fit right in at Boise. [Boise is] my favorite so far -- really like that place. I like the area, tradition, the offense, the coaches and their facilities."
Given his high interest in the Broncos and vise versa, has it been hard for the three-star prospect to not jump on the offer and commit to Boise State?
"Yeah [it has]," he said when asked if it's been hard not committing to Boise State. "I really like that place. But I just wanna see what I can get [in terms of offers]. I'll probably make my decision in May or June. Boise is my top school right now, though."
Book acknowledged he'll likely make another unofficial visit to Boise State at some point this spring, but no date has been set. As a junior Book threw for 18 touchdowns and 2,025 yards with just seven interceptions.
Ian Book is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound pro-style quarterback rated three-stars according to 247Composite (.8742). Book has one crystal ball prediction -- Boise State.
