2017 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Set for December 22 21st annual game moves to Friday time slot
BOISE, Idaho – The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will kick off Friday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. MST/4 p.m. EST. The game will be held at Boise State University’s Albertsons Stadium and televised on ESPN.
The nation’s northern-most bowl game traditionally features a Mountain West (MW) vs. Mid-American Conference (MAC) matchup. This will be the MW’s fifth straight appearance in the bowl’s history, while the MAC will look to secure a spot for the eighth time in nine years.
The 21st annual game is becoming synonymous with the start of winter break festivities, being played on Dec. 22 for the third consecutive year. Last year Idaho held off a tenacious Colorado State team, 61-50, in a record-setting affair. For just the third time in college football bowl history, both teams eclipsed the 600-yard mark, combining for 1,206 yards of high-flying offense -- and that was after a scoreless first quarter.
“We’ve consistently had great match-ups between our partner conferences and last year was no exception,” said Kevin McDonald, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Executive Director. Friday’s game will be one of two matchups that afternoon, teaming up with the Bahamas Bowl which kicks off earlier in the day at 12:30 p.m.Famous Idaho Potato Bowl tickets will go on sale to the general public in September through BoiseStateTickets.com or the Albertsons Stadium ticket office. Reservations for premium ticket packages are currently available, which include prime ticket locations, hospitality benefits in tent village and corporate exposure.
