Byron Hout Returns to Boise State as Defensive Graduate Assistant

BOISE, Idaho ? [/B]Byron Hout, a former Boise State linebacker, has returned to the Broncos as a defensive graduate assistant for the football team. He will work with the linebackers this upcoming season.

He replaces Andrew Browning, who accepted a full-time assistant coaching position at UTEP this past month.

Hout played four years at Boise State (2008-11) and was a starter his junior and senior seasons. In his final year playing for the Broncos, Hout led the team in tackles with 69 (32 unassisted) and earned All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention honors. He also tied for the team high with six pass break-ups, and four tackles-for-loss and two forced fumbles.

Hout was a reserve defensive end his first two years (2008-09) at Boise State before moving into a starting position at linebacker his junior season. In 2010, he made 34 total tackles before suffering a foot injury that ended his season in early November. Despite missing the final four games in 2010, Hout still received second-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors.[/B]

A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (Lake City HS), Hout finished his playing career with 157 total tackles, 20.5 TFLs and seven quarterback sacks.

Hout received his undergraduate degree (Communication) from Boise State in May of 2012. He was a defensive graduate assistant at Washington State last season.[/B]

Good for Byron. Pretty cool gig to go from player to coach in training. I guess if the NFL doesn't call this is a great second gig
