Boise State got on the board early, reversing a recent trend, with a 76 yard pass from Rypien to McNichols on the opening drive and a TD to Sperbeck on their second. BYU fought back with a blocked FG and two interceptions returned for TDs. The Broncos defensive line brought constant pressure, forcing Hill out of the pocket and leading to some throw away passes. The Broncos got back on the board late with an absolute bullet from Rypien to Wilson, who made an excellent catch by Wilson for the TD. The biggest difference in the game so far is Boise State has shot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties and not being able to take advantage of BYU mistakes, while the Cougars are jumping on everything the Broncos are giving them. In the second half, Boise State needs to stop getting in their own way, as the game could be out of reach by now. Offensively, consistency is key as they looked unstoppable on some drives and frazzled on others. On defense, the Broncos have made big stops are have shut down the Cougars thus far. Their biggest adjustment needs to be limiting Hill’s runs as he has scrambled for a first downs to extend drives
