Over the last 12 yrs. The Boise State football program has been silently asserting its dominance throughout the world of College Football, and surely is one of the Top teams in the western landscape, if not, in college football.
But let's really take a look at what the Boise State football program has done to put its stamp over the western conferences in the past 7 years and what Boise State could do? to Assert itself as a top power in the East starting with the Virginia series in 2015.
Under the leadership of one of the Nations best coaches Chris Petersen... the Broncos are an unbelievable 84-8 . Thats a .913 winning percentage which in today's standards is nothing short of Miraculous. Each year reloading his teams, seams just a seamless as the last with tons of talent filling the gaps year in and year out.
With 8 WAC Championships and 1 MWC Championship it's hard not to imagine that there Decade of Dominance also included many top Non Conference faux's.
with Boise States dominance in the WAC and now Mountain West Conference, lets take a look at how Boise State has Dominated the Pac12 in recent years.
Boise State has won it's last 3 consecutive Maaco Las Vegas bowl games against Pac12 opponents beating
2010 Utah
2011 Arizona St.
2012 Washington
But has also had many wins over most of the Pac12's top teams. Boise State has had Non conference wins over OregonSt.(2) and Pac12 champion Oregon (2). as well
It's pretty safe to say for the last few years since Chris Peterson has taken over,Boise State has owned the PAC except for the loss to Washington Huskies in 2007.
Boise State hasn't had the privilege of Playing USC, and really think it would be a great home and home series for them and the Bronco's.. But until that Matchup, its safe to say the Bronco's have wrapped up the Pac12 as far as competitive advantage. As of late.. Arizona is also a team that is on the rise, so take notes Larry Scott, have the AD's of both of those schools call Mark Coyle. We are taking reservations. Cause until then... "We own you." Remember...Any given Saturday.... right?
Since Boise state has become the Top team in the west... What's Next for the Bronco's??
Ah, take your brand East and Start competing with teams out of the Norm.
Boise States 2011 win over Georgia was huge!... Lots will argue that it was overshadowed by the loss to TCU later in the season, but Georgia did rage on to become the SEC East champ that year. This was the beginning to a great start for the Bronco's moving eastward to play the likes of the SEC and the Big 10!
Boise States 2012 opening loss to Michigan State was a heart breaking, but for the first time we saw transparency in teams that we had never seen before...
So what's next for the Bronco's
Ahhhh Virginia.... We would like to sinceraly thank you for growing some cahones and signing up to play a home and home series with us. Seems like there is a little resentment within Bronco Nation of this matchup, but I think It's a step in the right direction..... so that we don't have to schedule weaker non conference opponents. As a matter of fact Playing teams like Virginia are great for Boise State.. If we win, put another feather in our cap. If we lose, then back to the drawing board. Many would argue that Boise State isn't trying to schedule the Nebraska's and the Texas A&M's but let's face it. Chad Cripe @ IDS_BroncoBeat said it perfectly, in an answer to this question?.... Big time teams don't want to schedule potential losses, its bad Business .I take Pride in that statement Bronco Nation, You should be proud when you have a football team that other teams won't schedule because the risk vs. the reward is to much. So.... We start with Virginia, eating our way from the bottom up. Michigan State was close one for us, and who knows, maybe they'll have a Change of heart and honor there home and home visiting Bronco Stadium. Wouldn't that be an amazing day! Obviously The Cavaliers saw value in scheduling Boise State, and I'm sure they will come well prepared. I believe this Home and Home with Virginia is the Door opening for Boise State to recruiting, Brand, and the potential scheduling of the ACC and possibly other conferences. Only time will tell... And when the new post season format comes into play, it will be really interesting to see, what and who will schedule and When. So there you have it Bronco Nation... Marching Eastward!! On to the Next success of our beloved Bronco Football program!
