As I see it currently there are really only six schools that are viable candidates for possible inclusion to the MWC for the future. And IF the MWC ever plans to get to 16 teams (something I personally think would NOT be a good idea) they would have to add FIVE of these six schools:

Brigham Young University - Currently D-1 Independent
San Diego State University - Now in the Mountain West Conference - Headed to the Big East Conference
Southern Methodist University - Now in Conference USA - Headed to Big East Conference
University of Houston - Now in Conference USA - Headed to Big East
University of Texas at El Paso - Now in Conference USA
University of Tulsa - Now in Conference USA

OR the MWC could look to add three of these schools to become a 14 member conference. IF that were the case I personally think the three best candidates (of these six schools) would be San Diego State (naturally), S.M.U. and Tulsa OR Houston. Houston is currently saying that they plan to continue on and join the Big East tho.
