The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) recently announced the Scholastic All-America Awards for the 2017-18 academic year, and Boise State was once again announced as the No. 1 academic team in women's gymnastics thanks to a 2017-18 team GPA of 3.806

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) recently announced the Scholastic All-America Awards for the 2017-18 academic year, and Boise State was once again announced as the No. 1 academic team in women's gymnastics thanks to a 2017-18 team GPA of 3.806. Led by co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick, the Broncos are tops in the nation in team GPA for the second time in the last three seasons.
The Blue and Orange saw 13 gymnasts from last year's roster earn individual WCGA Scholastic All-America Awards (13-of-14 gymnasts). In order to qualify for WCGA Scholastic All-America Awards, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA for the 2017-18 academic year.
Boise State beat out Western Michigan (3.7930) and Texas Woman's University (3.7782), who finished second and third, respectively, in team GPA.
Seven gymnasts earned perfect 4.0 GPAs according to the standardized GPA system used by the WGCA: Isabella Amado (kinesiology), Mary Frances Bir (health science studies), Courtney McGregor (health science studies), Maddi Nilson (chemistry), Rachel Obmann (kinesiology), Ann Stockwell (kinesiology) and Abby Webb (biology).
Two Broncos also finished with GPAs above 3.8, as Tatum Bruden (biology) earned a 3.88 in her first year as a Bronco while Sandra Collantes (Spanish / psychology) was close behind with a 3.81.
Sarah Means (general business) picked up a 3.78, Shani Remme (health science studies) finished with a 3.74, Emily Muhlenhaupt (pre-medical studies) recorded a 3.64 and Alex Esmerian (health science studies) rounded out the group with a 3.45.
Boise State has finished each of the last four seasons ranked in the top three of team GPA among NCAA women's gymnastics teams: No. 1 this season, No. 2 in 2016-17, No. 1 in 2015-16 and No. 3 in 2014-15.
