the brilliant minds of college football came up with a new name for college football championships. No longer will we hear "BCS national championship", it will now be called, "The college football playoff".

It's bleaping brilliant! People flying across country to Pasadena (BCS meetings yesterday) and stayed up night and day to come up with the new name. With such fine and brilliant minds running cfb, the future is bright...

Hail Bill Hancock!!

oh yeah!!

the 4 team playoff is a sham! They can still control i.e rig the voting and place 2 SEC teams in the top 4 guaranteeing at least 1 SEC team in the NC game. Hancock has got to go, he serves no purpose and is nothing more than a cheerleader.

With the ACC now going with a Grant of Rights that will probably keep them intact. That means there will be 5 so called "power conferences" and only 4 playoff spots. If the SEC and ESPN keep manipulating the polls to ensure there are 2 SEC schools in the playoff that would leave 2 Conference champs out in the cold.... how long do you think that will last.. What if the BIG10 and PAC12 get left out for a 2 SEC, Big12 and ACC playoff... there would be serious fallout.

Interesting.... Boise based on the last 8 seasons would have qualified under the new system for 5 big money bowls instead of 2??? Am I missing something?

We qualified for more than 2 big money bowls..... We were only selected for 2..... Ahh it's the ol' Selection that counts

And of those two they HAD to take Boise for one of them because of the rules that had been forced upon the BCS that guaranteed access to (mid-majors) under certain circumstances like being the top rated non BCS team rated 6th or higher. Or 12th as long as you were rated higher than a champion from a BCS conference.

Those were provisions that non-BCS teams had fought and threatened legal action over for years to gain access to those big money bowls. Now, under the guise of a 'play-off' those guarantees are gone and it reverts back to the good 'ol boy selection process. The only thing that has changed is now there are even fewer 'Haves' and more 'Have-nots' since it is now 5 conferences instead oft 6.

It's not a playoff till everyone has equal access to it.

I think they have to go to 8 sooner rather than later. 4 spots is not enough for that many ego's
