Venable, Woodruff Join Staff

BOISE, Idaho –
The Boise State football team has named former all-conference standout Winston Venable its player development coordinator, head coach Bryan Harsin announced Thursday. Additionally, Andrew Woodruff has joined the program as a strength and conditioning intern.

“Having guys who gained so much from this program wanting to come back and give to the next generation of Broncos is what makes this place so special,” Harsin said. “Winston and Andrew are great people – and great Broncos – and we’re excited to have them working with our team.”

Venable, an All-Western Athletic Conference selection in each of his two seasons playing for the Broncos (2009-10), will oversee and coordinate all student-athlete programs for the football team, in addition to serving as the program’s academic liaison and community outreach coordinator.

Woodruff, a four-year starter on the Broncos’ offensive line (2005-08) and a first-team All-WAC selection in 2008, will assist strength and conditioning coach Jeff Pitman in the weight room.

The Boise State staff features more than 100 years of previous experience with the program, either as student-athletes or in a coaching or administrative role. Harsin, three of his assistant coaches (Andy Avalos, Gabe Franklin and Lee Marks), three graduate assistants (Dustin Kamper, Kharyee Marshall and Derek Schouman), Pitman and two administrators (Venable and Taylor Tharp) all played for the Broncos.
