BOISE, Idaho – Four Boise State athletic teams (football, women’s golf, women’s tennis and volleyball) have earned Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top-10 percent of their respective sports.

The full APR report, which will include 2013-14 scores for all teams, will be released by the NCAA next Wednesday (May 27).

This marks the fifth-straight year the Bronco football team has received this national award. Boise State joins Clemson, Duke, Northwestern and Rutgers as the only Football Bowl Subdivision teams to post an APR score in the top-10 percent each of the past five years.

This is the second-straight year women's golf has received the award, and this is the first time women’s tennis and volleyball have received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA.

“I’m extremely proud of the effort put in by not only the student-athletes in the four recognized sports, but by all our student-athletes,” Boise State Director of Athletics Mark Coyle stated. “Led by our excellent academic staff, these scores reflect the dedication and hard work each individual is making to be successful in the classroom and prepare them for success after graduation.”

The four Public Recognition Awards are the most earned by Boise State in a single year. The University of New Mexico was the only other Mountain West Conference school to earn four awards this year.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, providing a measure of each team’s academic performance.
